About
Catholic Charities has provided social services aimed at supporting and preserving families and promoting self-sufficiency and social justice since 1945. Catholic Charities is a nonprofit leader in serving the poor and vulnerable - regardless of race, religion, gender, ethnicity, country of origin, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status - within the Diocese of St. Petersburg’s 5-county area (Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando and Citrus). Under its auspices, we operate three broad umbrella Ministries of Mercy: Foundations of Life, Shelters of Hope, and Friends in Need. Through these ministries, we serve over 15,000 individuals and provide over 200,000 meals annually. Our services include but are not limited to food and shelter for the homeless, affordable housing for the poor, the elderly, migrant farmworker families, those suffering from HIV/AIDS and other disabilities, respite care and medical screening and basic care, financial/housing counseling and assistance, immigration and citizenship services, pregnancy and adoption assistance, and disaster relief.
