SPYP Community Spotlight: Council Chair Lisset Hanewicz

Wednesday, July 8, 2026 (6:00 PM - 7:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

Join SPYP for our next Community Spotlight featuring St. Petersburg City Council Chair Lisset Hanewicz!

Chair Hanewicz will discuss her path to public service, and lead a conversation on some of the biggest issues facing our City, including funding for essential public services, the City's St. Pete Agile Resilience (SPAR) plan to expedite water, sewer, and stormwater projects, the current status of the Gas Plant Redevelopment process, and what to expect as we head into hurricane season.

Born in Tampa and raised in Miami, Chair Hanewicz is an attorney and former Assistant State Attorney in Pinellas County, as well as a former Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida. Before serving District 4 on City Council, she was President of the Crescent Lake Neighborhood Association, where she has lived since 2006. Today, she serves as Chair of City Council, Chair of the Public Services and Infrastructure Committee, and Chair of the Tampa Bay Water Board of Directors, while also holding vice-chair roles on several key legislative and budget committees. Read Chair Hanewicz's full bio here.

This is a great opportunity to hear directly from City leadership, stay informed on important local issues, and ask questions about the future of St. Pete!
